From the 2nd-7th May 2011 I will be ‘plugging out’ completely to raise money for Mind - no mobile phone, internet or TV!
I can’t IMAGINE how I am going to survive for a whole 6 days with no mobile or internet as I rely on both for EVERYTHING, but it’s all for a good cause! :) I am going to allow myself to be contacted on and use the landline, for emergencies and making sure the family are OK, etc.
I have been a media volunteer for Mind since Spring 2010 and haven’t looked back since! After experiencing depression at the hands of my previous employers I contacted Mind after their appeal for people to speak about their experiences for Mind Week 2010. Speaking to various media agencies has returned my confidence to (and surpassed) its levels of old and has been pivotal in my recovery and for this I cannot thank Mind enough. This is why I want to give something back by raising as much money as I can in the run up to Mind Week 2011. You can read more about Mind on their website: http://www.mind.org.uk.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now!
Below are some links to some of the media work I have been involved with on behalf on Mind:
I sincerely and severely miss those days. Love you, Ant & Dec. <3
Ezio making a nest of my hair :) (sorry it’s a bit dark-I didn’t want to startle him with the flash)
Just Salsa Please, No Mayo.
Gayle: ...OK, black? Black with ring earrings? Latino-looking, dark hair? Bald, Latino-looking? Or, erm, tall, skinny, swings his arms a lot, little bum?
Me: Little, Latino, dark hair, wears a ring on each thumb. :)
I decided late in 2010 that 2011 will be a good year for me.
A year is really not a long time at all. It seems long because of how it is divided up, but have you ever stopped and though to yourself after the passing of another month: “Wow, December went quick!”? There you go, then.
First of all, I stopped smoking on 2 January and have so far been successful in my quit attempt. :)
Next, I am taking up salsa and yoga classes with two very good friends, respectively (salsa starts tomorrow and yoga on Friday), to improve my fitness, aided by my new, healthier lungs. :)
I am also getting a new job this year, one which financially suits our lifestyle and my experience better than my current one. :)
With the help of Better Paid Job I will be starting to decorate the house and re-work the garden to give us a happier, more relaxing place to live and to reflect our personalities in our home. :)
And by the end of 2011, I will have done a good chunk of studying toward my Psychology Bsc. :)
Therefore, I conclude that 2011 is not my year, just one of many good ones. :)
That’s a toughie as I have a couple. I couldn’t live without my laptop or mobile for starters so they are rather high up the list. I also love anything my Grandad makes for me and most of the things on my study wall (hence, why they are there). I’ll take some photos and show you all.
